THE OTHERNESS CHILD (2025)
PERFORMANCE

Description
This performance emerges from the fragile reality of caring for my aging dog, who has a heart condition and limited time left with me. Through this intimate and temporary bond, I began to reflect on the entanglement of caregiving, motherhood, and post-human kinship. Where does the instinct to nurture come from—biological, learned, or something that exceeds our understanding?
The Otherness Child merges Butoh, projection, and embodied ritual to examine control, dependency, and the dissolution of boundaries between human and non-human life. Inspired by Donna Haraway’s theory of companion species, the work unfolds as a choreography of interconnection—blurring the lines between self and other, animal and human, memory and presence.
