m/Other Post-Grief (2025)
PERFORMANCE

02_m_Other live performance Post Grief.jpg

Description

This performance is presented as part of my solo exhibition m/Other. It incorporates a projected video documenting a live piece I created with my dog, filmed on March 1, 2025, at LA Art Share.

The title m/Other reflects both “mother” and “other,” expressing how care can take many forms. For me, motherhood is not only about giving birth—it is about tending to memory, love, and grief.

At the heart of this piece is my late dog, whose presence shaped the project from the beginning and continues to resonate within it. He passed on May 24, 2025. In March, I performed The Otherness Child beside him—a work created during his final days to honor our bond.

In this performance, I danced with a transparent dog that embodies his memory. The piece is set to Yurikago no Uta, a lullaby my mother once sang to me and that I later sang to him as he passed. It has since become a requiem.

Even now, I feel him with me. He appears in my dreams and moves beside me in performance—an invisible partner, a spirit guardian.
